Mod Saturday with ACRE suggestion

I would like to put forth the suggestion of making ACRE a permanent addition to mod Saturday.

Mod Saturday is already about installing and trying out mods, so we're loading i44, unsung, hell on pacific for it already so loading one additional mod doesn't seem to be that much of a stretch. One could say it would be best to have ACRE session on it's own but I think that would end up being feeling like a smaller scale main session with "better VON".

The benefits would be having a much more immersive/quality "VON system", considering our current Saturday player counts all but the basic radio could be ignored with everyone sticking mostly to direct.

The downside is that it would be one more thing to configure, I personally never had difficulties getting ACRE up and running but there seems to be allot of people with horror stories of how they couldn't get ACRE to work and if such issues still happen on current ACRE versions is unknown to me as like I said It mostly worked for me.

Like the title says it's a suggestion so what do the other mod Saturday going people think about it?

I'm all for using ACRE :) I think I've seen a server where people who didn't have ACRE could still join and communicate, and they'd essentially be on global chat. Perhaps that's a good midpoint?

It's certainly is a possibility although having had that particular experience myself it does seem like you're talking to a god like entity since that person's voice is not positioned in the world.

Still it's more or less moot if not enough people show interest in it.

It's a good suggestion coming from the I <3 ACRE side of camp (we have jackets and free ice-cream!). It speeds up communication by chopping it up and slowing it down. And also makes it sound delicious. :mrgreen:

As far as a permanent requirement goes, I think it might be biting of too much to chew. Adding that barrier will discourage some people from joining in and doing addons, in part because they have yet to see the light but also because ACRE takes some configuring and learning at the minimum, if you're lucky.

Wouldn't it be better to plan for ACRE and announce it per session if the mission maker/s wants it specifically? To be fair and honest, though, I haven't attended MS (Mod Saturday) for a number of weeks and even before that sporadically, so I'm not sure how much custom content is being produced per mod/per week, but it would require at least some tweaking in load outs and the like with a constant ACRE.

So, those are my thoughts on it.

Make sure to get Hell in the Pacific, I think that's what we are playing :)
