[PSA] DO NOT PRE-MOUNT CHOPPERS

An important announcement to make to all comrade mission-makers: DO NOT PRE-MOUNT CHOPPERS.

We all know what happened in the early days of our A3 exploration, when Burn continued to malfunction for no discernible reason. It's been several months, but tonight's BluFor CO for A Friend In Need, MadToaster, found much to his dismay that this problem persists, and we still do not know what the hell causes it.

The issue cannot be reliably repro'd, but these are the symptoms so that you can keep an eye out for it:
  • 1) TH3 is occupied by a player on a MP server with multiple people connected and a black-magic ritual enacted.
    2) Immediately upon simulation-start, an artillery shell spawns.
    3) Said artillery shell is spawned at ground-level directly under TH3, and blows up the chopper.
Nothing else is constant. Landing artillery shells have a very distinct sound in A3 - You'll know when you hear one.

In the meantime, the one reliable thing we know is that choppers do not explode if they do not start with dudes pre-mounted in them. Thus:

NEVER EVER PRE-MOUNT CHOPPERS.

Does that also apply with MoveIn or with just the pre-mount component?

The pre-mount component did not exist when Burn was created. Draw your own conclusions.
