Folk ARPS chat is moving from Skype to Discord, a new (free) chat service with web, mobile and desktop clients that's designed specifically for gamers.
Why are we moving?
Skype's ability to support us is deteriorating. Discord offers the same persistent chat, but with less memory-hungry clients (including a great web client), support for multiple chat channels, voice channels and - in the near future - it will integrate with our games.
Couldn't we stay on Skype?
Even if Discord didn't aleady offer us more features, the Party no longer believes Skype will get better. Worse, we're seeing comrades become frustrated and disconnect from the chat.
When do I need to move?
The Skype channel will be retired on [Wed] 21 October 2015, but you can already join our Discord server now.
How do I move?
Just follow this link. You don't need to install anything or register (although registering allows you to retain your nickname). The dedicated clients are also good, but not critical if you'd prefer to operate from the browser.
Is there anything I should do once I'm in?
We recommend changing your Voice settings from 'voice-activated' to 'push-to-talk'.
Will Discord replace TeamSpeak 3 as well?
Not for sessions - it doesn't offer features like Channel Commander - but you may want to use it for pick-up games of Insurgency etc.
Wait ... is comrade Tigershark waiting for us on Discord?
Comrade, would the Party do that to you?
