Fix Skype 5.3 on Win7 64-bit PC

Comrade, if you happen to be running Skype on a Win 7 64-bit PC you may be about to run into a bug whereby the application simply stops working, and then crashes each time to you attempt to restart it. Restarting your PC and/or re-installing Skype will not help. Instead, do this:
  • Find the file: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Skype\shared.xml
  • Rename the file to: shared.xml.OLD (or delete it, but I recommend renaming to be safe)
  • Start Skype again
  • ...
  • Profit!
