[Sun] 25 March 2012 - Folk/ARPS, CiA & LDDK Joint Session

Post by fer » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:30 pm

Reminder: If you don't already know how to configure and use TeamSpeak 3's Channel Commander feature, please re/re-read the Getting started with TeamSpeak 3 (for ArmA2) thread before the event, even if you do not plan on taking a leadership role. Thank you.
What's the scoop?
We have invited our comrades from LDDK and CiA to come over and help us shoot people (again). We may also shoot each other too.

What are LDDK and CiA?
The illustrious LDD Kyllikki (LDDK) is an OFP/ArmAx group that has been around for a very long time indeed. Over 10 years, in fact! The folks at CiA have been running sessions for almost as long.

What are the people from LDDK and CiA like?
Lovely. We've had many joint sessions with them in the past, and greatly enjoyed shooting each other in the face. Here are some AAR threads from the more recent joint sessions:
When is it?
19:00 UK (20:00 CET) on Sunday 25 March 2012.

Does this replace the regular Folk session?
Yes. Everyone from Folk and ARPS is invited. Please note the earlier start time.

Which OA server will we use?
The Folk ArmA2: Combined Operations server:

  • Address: server.herosquad.org
  • Port: 2402
  • Password: freedom
Which TeamSpeak 3 server will we use?
Folk/ARPS/CiA guests, please use the Folk TS3 server:
  • Address: server.herosquad.org:9988 (note: the domain and port go together)
  • Password: freedom
Note: LDDK guests will use the LDDK Mumble server. Co-ordination will be via VON in the COY CO element.[/size]

Are any addons allowed, or just vanilla ArmA 2: Combined Operations?
Just vanilla ArmA 2: Combined Operations. You may run client-side addons (STHUD etc.) but not those that might give you a competitive advantage against humans (e.g. mods that allow you to control your view distance). Please, please do NOT connect with such mods. Connecting with ACE2 or ACRE loaded may cause the server to crash - please do not be the one to delay 50+ other players.

What kind of missions will we be playing?
More details will be announced closer to the event. Be sure to subscribe to this thread for updates (look for the link in the bottom bar on this page).

Okay, sounds good. What do you need me to do?
Just come along and enjoy the evening, comrade! If you know you're coming along, posting in this thread would be great - it's not obligatory, but it will help us plan things and is greatly appreciated by the hosts.

What if I can't make it until the usual Folk session start time, at 19:30 UK (20:30 CET)?
If all goes to plan there will be a lot of players on the server, so please understand if we don't wait for guests that arrive late in the slotting phase.

Okay. Also, I already know not to ask about whether or not we'll survive. We're all going to die.
Die gloriously, comrade. Gloriously.

I'll definitely try to make it, but seeing as it's my little brother's birthday that day, my plans might be thwarted. We'll see.

In like Flynn.

Also, Fer has asked me very nicely* to assume command for the Cacheola style mission on Takistan, and to think up a general plan prior to the event. We'll be (firstly) defending the caches, located around the settlement of Rasman and the surrounding areas. If anyone is interested in contributing and being part of the planning, and also interested in taking one of the Sub-Command roles (1xDC, 2or3xElement leads were Element will be 2 or 3 fireteams - all depends on numbers though) post up in here and/or send me a PM. Also, I apologise to one and all for our inevitable failure and slaughter at the hands of those hideously proficient Finns. Can I be the first to say that it would have all gone perfectly if you'd just done what I said, except for when I didn't really mean what I said and you should have all known that.

* Please don't hurt my precious little Tchotchke. I swear I will do everything the party asks! You monster!

I'm in, in a totally non-traitorous Finn way.

I'll bash up a quick, basic, general plan sometime this evening, and distribute it to those interested in Element/FT Lead. Those who are interested in these roles better also have Channel Commander set up in TS3.
