Need some beta testers.

Post by theG57 » Fri Nov 12, 2010 6:15 am

Made a mission, if you want to give it a go. Please by all means DO! I need this mission beta tested....
Report any and all bugs.

What it is, Save Strelka mission. Enemy Miltia convoy on the way to Strelka. The convoy will use the NE road along northern coastline. You start just North of Strelka. Setup an ambush and a killzone, be quick about it. If The enemy reaches Strelka and gets a foot hold. You lose!...

If enemy AI is disorganized with the convoy. This is meant to be as so. Not well trained Miltia. They do stick to there route but will detour once alerted! The enemy AI will also scout ahead, come flying down the road and randomly disembark and embark. You will not see the same convoy every time. Some times several armor vehicles, some times not so many. I tried to keep it random as I could. Has 5 Fireteam squads AT, MG, Grenade, Engineer and Sniper teams. You need to talk it over with your mates before you began. Once you start the convoy mounts up and takes off. It can be a several minutes before they show up or a matter of moments...

Hi G, thanks for posting! Always great to see another mission maker join the revolution! The premise of the mission sounds very exciting, and I love the idea of randomisation to increase re-playability. :v:

Unfortunately, it appears you've made the mission on Utes, which is ArmA2 content, not vanilla OA (which is what the folk server supports). I tried to load up the mission in vanilla ArmA2, but wasn't able to play thanks to a message about missing content. Figuring you might have made this using Combined Operations (which has both ArmA2 and OA content), I tried to launch it in that - but it wouldn't even show up in the missions browser. Confusing!

Would it be possible to transplant the mission to Takistan, and delete all non-OA content from it? If you zip-up and post the mission folder (not the .pbo), I'd be happy to give you a hand getting it converted for use with vanilla OA.

Update: LOL, the mission not showing up in the browser would be user-error on my part, apologies! But this is definitely a Combined Operations mission, so it would need to be ported over to Takistan. Please post the mission folder and hopefully we can collaborate on moving it across. This should be great.

Incidentally, if you'd like a headstart when it comes to making missions for the folk server, check out the current folk builds of F2: these have a great deal of stuff built-in (like our formations, markers, briefing templates), which should save a lot of time. Hope that helps.

Okay I have those files. Hmm, well I think I can port over the mission np myself. Plus I want to do it for the experience. Just need to find the time and mood. Right now I am not in the mood to edit. Tomorrow I will be busy with RL. I'm helping out some Boy Scouts earn there Astronomy badges, about 100 of them. I have to be there at 1500hrs. and they are cooking me dinner. That's right my other obsession is Astronomy. So I guess I'll see you on Sunday. Maybe I will work on this mission Sunday or Monday night?...

BTW, I do not have Combined Operations game. I actualy have OA and arma2...

I have a feeling you're not the only one here who takes an active interest in astronomy, G! Do you take images like TZW's Zorlac?

No not like him, Feesh and TJ. But I do planets every now and then, when the weather is nice to me. I did a week ago of Jupiter it was giving me some good detail. But I am mostly mark 1 eyeball astronomer. BTW, the boyscout thing went very well and they want us to come back next year....

Jupiter last Tuesday Night. This is a raw image has not been proccesed. I could bring even more detail...

Happy to beta test, G. Ping me on steam when you're around and I'll try to join you (and Watooce?) to test it out?

G - at some point this week I'll try and post some instructions for stopping/starting and administering the server, so that you can test on it. Please remind me if you haven't heard anything by Wednesday evening (UK). Thanks.
