(ArmA2) Ad Hocs R Folk!

... so I've just spent an hour or so on the server with comrades Tigershark, Banshee and General Carver, playing comrade mission maker Carver's excellent Zargabad Safari mission (v3). Admittedly it's a bit late on a school night, but we had some excellent fun. Even with just four simple farmers, we had some super teamwork and made over 120 kills (with probably no more than a handful of revives throughout the mission). I'm stepping off the server now to go to bed, but as I type this comrades G, Watooce and Feesh are getting ready to head out on their own safari!

:clint:

I'm posting to let everyone know that we're starting to see comrades on the ArmA2 server on nights other than Sunday, and to remind all good socialist agrarian workers that the folk servers are at their disposal 24/7 if they fancy some ad hoc action.

In support of this, a few comrade mission makers have started to write [or share older] missions for smaller playercounts. Zargabad Safari, Babysitters and Tombstone Arizona are a few recently posted, and I suspect more will follow in the Christmas holidays. Plus, there's the ever-evolving Defend the Base mission, which is insane (and gets more so with each passing hour that G has to edit it). These smaller missions can be terrific fun, and prove that enjoyment is not always about having 50 people on the server. They're also an opportunity to explore different mission design features, such as revive, or simply running around wearing a cowboy hat.

So if you find yourself at a loose end on a weekday night, remember there are a few quick ways to see if any other comrades fancy a game:
Hope to see some of you during the week, but as with all nearly things folk, please remember that none of this is required. We'll see you when we see you (and when Desperate Housewives isn't on TV).

:v:

I'm really mired in real life job + TARS development at the moment and thus haven't been able to cash on this, but this is an excellent development indeed.

I promise I will stop. Just need to get BAF working and I won't do it any more. I promise on my wife's new, no wait I just thought up something. Defend the Base, why not defend the ship. I remember a Carrier class ship off the coastline of Utes Ilse just siting there...

You know what I'd like? A type of Defend the Base mission which focuses on small arms in the city. If you've ever seen Assault on Precinct 13 (original or remake), you'll have idea of what I'm talking about. Perhaps the base can be a large building in Zargabad, and the defenders can use cars to create roadblocks and choke-points at nearby junctions? Thinking even further, whilst a coop version would rock, it might also be interesting to explore an hybrid mission, in which amongst the attacking AI are some human players with a mission to rescue a prisoner from the cells. What do you think, G (and others)?

No I agree cold use the Mosk US forces attack. Trying to draw out the Rebels. I was thinking about in current mission. The heli force could have human enemy trying to attack BUT. Give them the ability to respawn limited number....

Anyone up for an ad hoc session tonight (Friday 17 Dec?) my 'management' will be out seeing some of her friends. I could spend the evening putting up some shelves, 'losing myself over some Parisian nudes in poses lewd' or I could do some gaming :-) Which shall it be I wonder?
