Comrades, this next bit is new, and you need to read it!
Update (02 December 2011): Our comrades from CiA are going to be on our TS3 server during this event. So we can be in separate channels but still communicate, we'll be using Channel Commander. For full instructions please read: Getting started with TeamSpeak 3 (for ArmA2)
What's the scoop?
LDDK have asked us to come over. And help them shoot bad mens.

What's LDDK?
The illustrious LDD Kyllikki (LDDK) is an OFP/ArmAx group that has been around for a very long time indeed. Over 10 years, in fact!

What are the people at LDDK like?
Lovely. We've had several joint sessions with them in the past, and greatly enjoyed shooting each other in the face. It will be fun to be shoot alongside them for a change. Also, our friends from CiA will be there too.

When is it?
19:45 CET (18:45 UK) on Sunday 04 December, 2011.

Does this replace the regular Folk session?
Yes. Everyone from Folk and ARPS is invited. Please note the earlier start time.

Which OA server will we use?
The LDDK ArmA2: Combined Operations server. Here are the details:

Address: http://www.raunhofer.net
Port: 2302
Password: kyllinyrkki

Are any addons allowed, or just vanilla ArmA 2: Combined Operations?
Just vanilla ArmA 2: Combined Operations. You may run client-side addons (STHUD etc.). Please, please do NOT connect with mods like ACE2, ACRE etc.

What kind of missions will we be playing?
A single, large-scale combined-arms coop.

Which TeamSpeak 3 server will we use?
The Folk one.

What if I can't make it until the usual Folk session start time, at 20:30 CET?
If you miss the slotting time, you probably won't get to play in the coop mission.

Is there a limit to the number of slots allotted to Folk?
Yes, we have up to 25 and they will go on a first-come, first-served basis.

Further down in this thread is a list of slots - do we need to choose in advance?
No, the only reserved slot is for comrade General Secretary Fer, who will be the nominal CO of the Folk detachment; however this is mostly so he can be in the same VOIP channel as the other co-ordinators (as different groups will use their own TS/Mumble servers) - the leaders of our two squads can expect plenty of opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills!

Okay, sounds good. What do you need me to do?
If you know you're coming along, posting in this thread would be great - it's not obligatory, but it will help us plan things and is greatly appreciated by the hosts.

Are we expected to survive?
Survivors will be shot by commissars.

:commissar:

Comrade Spinoza's original post:
Hello all,

im Spinoza from LDDK, http://www.kyllikki.fi. Im in the process of producing a 64 slot coop mission in Takistan. Currently Im gathering people from all over Europe and the slots are being filled very nicely. I would like to invite folk to participate in this adventure, about 20 slots reserved for just you, infantry only. Armour and air assets are under LDDK control. Humvees and such are available for transport. This will be a truly multinational event so I shall put US and German units in the mission.

Some details:

-LDDK server December 4th 2011 at 21.00 Finland time (CET+1, GMT+2), all participants are expected to turn up atleast 15 mins prior to kickoff
-Arma2OA
-leaders: kapt Broileri (LDDK), I will group all unit leaders into one single squad in order to simplify comms, units & squads will use whatever comms they are used to, priority on VOIP*
-server details: veteran
-no respawn
-a briefing with preliminary orders will be available

I will give more info later on.

*LDDK uses Mumble but it has limited slots. Units and squads will use their respective comms (TS3 etc.)

sounds very interesting. I'm German-speaking if such a squad is considered but am also used to die fight with the dogs of ARPS.

Sure, I'm up for this. How come only LDDK people can use vehicles though?

@ Comrade Wolfenswan, you will fight and die with your comrades in the Folk platoon. :colbert:
Joseph-Sulphur wrote:Sure, I'm up for this. How come only LDDK people can use vehicles though?
@ Comrade Sulphur, the politburo has not authorised the asking of such questions. We have agreed to provide LDDK with a contingent of up to 20 heroes, ready to die in the name of whatever revolutionary objectives LDDK has identified. Be grateful you're getting a rifle - I understand other contingents have to share a single pistol.

@ All Comrades, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something large-scale without having to sign up for training, addon downloads, and calling people 'sir'. As comrade Spinoza has outlined, we'll only have a limited number of slots. If you plan to attend, please do 3 simple things:
  • Post in this thread; it helps everyone to know who to expect
  • Subscribe to this thread, and check back here for server details well in advance of the session start time; if you turn up late asking for those details over TS3, you'll be told to check the forums and we won't necessarily wait for you
  • Turn up on time and bring extra supplies of patience; it can take a little while for really large missions to get underway, especially as we will be on several different VoIP systems, so your co-operation and understanding will be greatly appreciated by the organisers
Additionally, you'll notice that this has not been cross-posted to the (A)RPS forum. I'll make an announcement about it there, but with a pointer to this thread for server details etc., as the 20 slots will not be open to guests who do not have a Folk forum account. Please help me and the other hosts to ensure that no pubbies/unknowns slip in under the Folk banner.

I'm very much looking forward to this event, and hope we'll be able to provide comrades for all 20 slots. This should be epic :hist101:

So are we going to be coordinating using side chat?

Ok you sons of the revolution:

Leadership:
Colonel Broileri (US Army & LDDK)
Major NN, USMC (any volunteers?)
Stabsunteroffizier NN, BW (someone from Comrades in Arms)

These 3 leaders will form one (1) group. They communicate using typing or VOIP. They will be on their respective voicecomms (folk=TS or whatever they chose to). All 3 will fight alongside their own troops

I wish folk & friends will man USMC, 10/squad, 20 in total. What I meant by LDDK manning vehicles, I was referring to tanks (Abrams). LAV, Humvees, trucks etc. are available to all. As for pilots, there will be very few slots there and I prefer to see more infantry than flyboys :)

I think we could probably get ~20 people (if not more) if you or Fer crossposts this to the RPS Arma 2 thread.

Sorry lads, I rarely play with BAF lite, not that many have the full version, and I forgot how ugly it was so I´ve decided to cut this part out of the mission. So, you will all be USMC. And to further clarify, you will drive your own vehicles. I will also put additional ammo+weapon boxes at the starting location, so you may pick your weapons of choice.

Alrighty gentlemen, this is how it looks for folk & friends:

Vehicles
2x LAV25
2x MTVR
1xHMMWV M2
1x HMMWV M19

Slots
1-1-F
Squad leader
Fire team leader
Automatic rifleman
Rifleman (M136)
Rifleman
Corpsman
Designated marksman
Engineer
Machinegunner
AA Specialist
Rifleman
Rifleman

1-1-G
Squad leader
Fire team leader
Automatic rifleman
Rifleman (M136)
Rifleman
Automatic rifleman
Designated marksman
Engineer
AA Specialist
Corpsman
Rifleman
Rifleman
+1 in 1-1-A

1-1-A
Broileri (LDDK)
fer (?) (folk & co)
Misha (CiA)

Five pilot slots in the mission, 2 already taken, but I do prefer that we have more boots on the ground than birds in the air. However, there is an opening in the pilots section if you guys want it, there will also be a UH-1Y Huey available. Even if fer is in 1-1-A he will still move and fight alongside the rest of you. The reason why he is in Alpha is because of comms, less radioclutter and easier for comrade fer to take charge of the operation if Broileri is killed. So, 25 slots in total for you guys, I managed to squeeze in a few more :coolbert:

I love flying the UH-1Y, so I'd be very happy to do that if we need it. However based on current turnout it seems like we'll need more people playing as ground-pounders. I'll take any role that is needed, including squad leader.
