1. Migrate to TeamSpeak 3
Most, if not all, of the communities guests hail from use TeamSpeak 3, so this would actually make it even easier to participate in the sessions.
2. [Drastically] simplify the channels structure
Even with 12+ players on the folk side, during the session I felt we did okay with a single TS channel; it's certainly been the case that in 2 months of sessions we have hardly ever used more than one channel per side. So, with a few provisos (see subsequent points), I suggest using:
- Away (Dead)
- Primary
- Secondary
For a standard coop mission, we would all be in Primary. However, for talking to anyone in your own fireteam, you would use Group VON. This will cut down on the low-level chatter that isn't relevent to everyone, but still means we all hear platoon-level comms. Before the sessions, I would have thought that would be too much for everyone to cope with, but that's exactly what we've dealt with for over 2 months, and it's been okay.
4. Dispense with Channel Commander
Ultimately, in the above set-up a player will only need 2 push-to-talk keys: one for TeamSpeak, and one for Group VON (although most will add a third for Direct VON, which some people find useful/immersive).
Unless anyone objects, I'm going to suggest that we look to make this migration before the 17 October session.
