Yes and no. Starting from the [Sun] 15 September 2013 session, FA will be running hybrid ArmA 2 / ArmA 3 sessions on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Hy-what? What is a hybrid session?
For approximately the first 2 hours of each FA session (Sundays and Tuesdays), we will be playing ArmA 2. Afterwards, we will switch to ArmA 3.
Will you let the last ArmA 2 mission finish, or switch after 2 hours regardless?
We'll switch over when the last ArmA 2 mission ends - so the switch may happen a little after the 2-hour mark.
Why isn't FA switching completely when ArmA 3 launches?
Our comrades, our missions and how we play - these are what make FA's sessions special. It's never been just about ArmA. So, when ArmA 3 was announced, the Politburo identified several conditions that we felt must be met before making a complete switch:
- The FA ORBAT and comms approach for ArmA 3 must be agreed and published in our forums
- An ArmA 3 version of F2 (F3), configured for the FA ORBAT etc. must be available for mission makers
- Half a dozen FA-standard missions must be ready (which is not a lot if 3-4 comrade mission engineers go to work)
- ArmA 3 must be available worldwide
- ArmA 3 must be out of Beta (although a very stable beta may allow us to switch before the full release)
- A significant number of comrades have ArmA 3
Why didn't the Party just make one of the Sunday or Tuesday sessions ArmA 3 only?
Because we didn't want to disadvantage the many comrades who only get to play in one of our regular weekly sessions.
