We started with another new mission from washington: Blinded (Alpha). After some unfucking of TS3 and ACRE, we went for a walk in the rainy woods of Everon, under the watchful leadership of Bodge. Things began well - eagle-eyed Halop spotted an enemy static and we were able to creep right up to the gunner and shoot him in the head. However, after this, things became less straightforward. The enemy had just the most amazing woodland wardrobe which meant we couldn't see them until they were right in front of us. Murdering us to death.
So we woke up in the Proving Grounds, feeling like Stalkers in Pridorozhnyy I. Washington led us along the dry riverbed, whilst Wafflynumber told us about the launch of the Guinness Surger units. Which are grand. Washington's plan to approach the convoy from the north was pretty grand too, but sadly we were bounced as we neared the enemy column (having successfully crossed the road). The firefight that ensued wasn't entirely one-sided (we killed a lot of enemy troops on the road), but eventually our lack of RPG targeting skills allowed the enemy to use its BRDMs. Up close.
Next, we played a new (first?) mission from kalelovil: UNWelcome Guests, which saw our little detachment of blue-hats defend a town in Chernarus whilst waiting for a helicopter that may or may not have been on its way. Kind of like Schroedinger's helicopter. Kefirz was best drunk commander, and duly ordered us to take cover inside buildings. Except the poor people of the region cannot into building interiors, so we hung out on street corners like Tigershark's Friday night dates and shot at rebels and technicals. Finally, as our numbers dwindled, Kefirz ordered us to head into the woods to the north. Where we were duly slaughtered.
I decided I had had enough of being cold, wet and dead. I wanted a new house. So I convinced the others to help me take the villa in Zargabad, which is exactly what Boberro's mission, Su Casa Es Mi Casa, is all about (although he still hasn't given it a damn name). We parachuted in a little too close - as I landed, a man in a suit came running towards me, firing some kind of weapon. I shot him in the head. Then we formed up as a firteam and proceeded to tacticool blob it up to the compound, then round to the right and into the main villa. Kefirz and Bormanov as the most effective red team, Boberro and I providing cover (I had scooped up Kaleovil's LMG), and washington as our trailing medic. We cleared the villa, then used it as a BOF to cover the red team as they cleared out the barracks area. After a quick perimeter check and some final executions, I told my four soon-to-be-housemates to load up into the helicopter for a fun ride! And then I shot them. Because I was lying about the whole house sharing thing.
Later, we were back in the most wonderful firebase ever built, in washington's cinematic mission Guardians III. Sadly, the enemy AI was on strike, but fortunately Boberro had managed to Arma himself and thus returned as Zeus to torment us. With, er, some unorthodox enemies. I might have been hallucinating, but I'm pretty sure a Lynx landed on our helipad and disgorged AAF troops. I shot at them, but I knew some remained outside the north-west gate. So I set up my PKM and waited for Boberro the enemy to storm the entrance. And then ... nothing. For a while, at least. Then I heard the sweet, sweet sound of the evac bird coming in, and found myself looking at the railway sign and wondering dreamily how incongruous it is. And then the enemy stormed the gate and shot me.
Great session, folks, and thank you to everyone who came along. Thanks also to washington and kalelovil, who ensured that yet again we had a slew of new missions to play!
I'll leave you with something dreamy (the music, not the weeping blue-haired girl!)
