Missions:
  • Zeleny I
  • Uncontested
  • Swept Zero
  • Old Men
  • Guardians I
  • Cholo
  • Zeleny III
  • Arbitration
An absolutely vintage session, which was in no small way made possible by our wonderful guests from Charlie Foxtrot (BoSSMan_DK, BrightCandle, Wolf, Palm). A huge thank you to them for coming along. Thank you also to regular Islanders, Boberro, Bodge, Bormanov, Commander Teizan, Costno, egg, Halop, interl64gamer, Pobiega and Tigershark.

More words to follow, but I just want to say this: as a mission maker and session host, this is exactly the kind of experience I hope for. BrightCandle's folks brought a smattering of organisation; we brought cigarettes, stories and terrible music; I hope everyone enjoyed the combination as much as I did. Thank you to everyone again - this makes the hours in the editor so worthwhile.

:v:

I came a bit late as I was at a wedding (and had to leave early because I started feeling real bad). I also don't really remember much except Old Men being an absolute blast - I was coughing up blood irl and trying to score cigarettes the entire mission. Quality stuff.

Huge thanks to CF for showing up and taking the lead roles, it was inspirational - and huge thanks to the islanders as well.

Haha yeah, I had/have a bad cough so my lungs/throat was/are very irritated. Essentially the perfect time to play Arma. I've deffo started enjoying the AR role a lot :D

Just want to throw in that my streak of dying first in a Block and Sweep Takistan mission is going strong, yesterday made it 3 in a row. :bang:

I got to command a Tank.

And then Driver Boberro was killed in action and so I got to drive a tank.

And then Gunner Intel64gamer got shot while turned out (the bullets just happened to be coming from the direction of friendly forces (but were admittedly shooting at me, who was outside the tank at the time)) and so I got to use the guns.

And then I drove it into a Helicopter, looted another helicopter, and got shot down by Costno.

Tanks are fun.

So, during latest run of Old Men, this happened:

I'm starting to think it's not such a good idea to invite people from CF to our sessions. If now they succeed in our unsolvable missions, I'm afraid soon they'll start demanding competence...

BTW @fer I believe while it's good idea to give both Alpha and support elements same radio channel, vehicles should still use different channel + 148 for contact with other elements. It was too noisy to hear any tank-related commands through the chatter.

I provided costno with rockets TT_TT. But if you cold only see the fireworks you turned into... Marvelous!

If we can do this to our friends... Just image what we are capable of doing to our enemies!

I will say that the tank mission (Uncontested?) was unusually player sided.

They gave us perfect visual reconnaissance of the convoy (Two BTR(?)s! Three or four trucks!) at the start of the mission and the tank had no real equal, aside from the last BTR refusing to die and somehow killing Boberro.

While very fun to finally get a tank, the main cannon ammunition constraints didn't serve much to balance it out at all once all enemy vehicles were KIA. Also, long-standing questionable issuing and/or usage of 148 radios meant, after we had to swap radio channels to avoid messy chatter and to be able to talk inside the tank, people had to switch 343 channels (Simultaneous channelswitch! :fry: ) to talk to the tank or for the tank to talk to infantry. While no longer an issue after all but one of the crew were KIA, it was a pain until that point.

Oh btw For all RHS Vehicle Drivers burned by the zoomed in gunner/commander views
Numpad +- is your saviour. Amusingly, + zooms you out.
