Trying this ... again
Re: [Sat] 20 Apr 2019 (The killing fields of Shamali)
A slightly higher turnout of Folk people than usual this session, but it's too bad Halop didn't update in time.
I'd actually completely slept through the beginning of the session, and woke up just in time to be spawned in to get a nice grenade breach in AO before the mission was ended for being cripplingly laggy due to not including Headless Client.
Then we shuffled over to Alternative Financing, where it was Me and Boberro versus the World (or just everyone else).
Once the enemy showed up, I abandoned my crappy tower position and snuck up on them - I could find them because they were all chatting about something (not sure what) - and when Spoggers spotted me I had a safety-on panic moment but ultimately managed to shoot him in the Face while only taking minor injuries (a gaping chestwound is nothing, really), whereafter Boberro apparently rushed in with a live grenade, and then I put some random fire while on the move to a target I only saw for a split second - who turned out to be NedFox.
I was surprised when the mission ended with a win at that point.
Next up was Shamali, where we were dropped into battle as a USMC team all equipped with M27s (and the bloody helicopter refused to fly off again). After a brief interlude of shooting at minor contact, I got Kefirz to start setting up his UAV to see what it does.
I then proceeded to get stuck in the Raven UAV terminal - and I only managed to figure out how to get back out the instant someone pulled the trigger to 'manually resolve the issue'.
After being 'resolved' (and respawned), I then ordered my allegedly loyal followers on a round trip around the Shamali area to clear out as many compounds as we could. We shot many terrorists and some of the said allegedly loyal followers died horribly (as they deserved) but then I suggested a twist - Those people we lost would prove their treasonous leanings true as newly spawned enemies that we would face at the final part of the mission. Kefirz agreed.
Suddenly, taking the town of Shamali from a downhill position became a lot more challenging. I got shot (and lived), I got shot again, we made a (pretty terrible) bounding overwatch charge up the hill, I put a wild grenade toward the expected direction of the enemy and accidentally splashed Kefirz (who luckily lived) we got stuck into the more urban confines, I got my head blown off by Boberro with his Mosin Nagant, and when Kefirz returned himself and I to life, I pushed forward suppressing Neddy - followed with a Grenade to his cubby hole.
I then accidentally killed myself in an unfortunate event which was totally not related to an additional grenade.
Then we followed up with the PMC v FIA mission Ravens, where I got to fly the helicopter, blow up some angry Technicals, mow down some infantry in the open, and ferry GeEom into the battle.
Otherwise, I didn't actually see very much and don't really know what happened on the ground.
I then called it a day on Mission fail after the ground force all died, so I missed the last mission.
