Next up though, we got into the two missions that were the real meat of the session for me:
Dorres, and
Linguistic Difficulties.

Dorres was an absolute blast to play, this time around. We, as the VDV lead by Fer, facing some 80s Americans of indeterminate birth,
TMF Loadout handling is coming, launched headlong into a bushline gunwall from which we would meet the American assault.
Which we did. There was gunfire, there were explosions, and there were Minimal Casualties - even if some of us did get shot.
After those who got shot whined about it for a bit (totally not me), Fer called an honest to god
retreat retrograde maneuver in
Arma, and it absolutely worked. We forted up in our compound, held fast for the inevitable assault, and started pre-emptively discussing our counter-assault until the Americanski Harry nearly murdered me with an RPG shot.
Ultimately, up to the moment the last enemy (GeEom?) and me both shot eachother in the face, this was pretty great.
Then
(after bouncing off the broken Hilltop village mission Guardians Something again) we got into
Linguistic Difficulties - wherein we Gendarmerie were backed up by a Wiesel Light Tank. That didn't speak French.
I lead the A team (three guys).

After having pasted most of the mission briefing in Teamspeak (aaargh) to get everything rolling, we set out to attack the Sawmill - it had apparently offended our Commanding Officer, somehow.
We got there, the Gendarmerie all disembarked, we in A were ordered through a brief woodland walk, and then we all charged the Sawmill (which did indeed have a garrisoning force of Syndikat).
There was a lot of gunfire, some radio chatter, at some point I saw a rather loud projectile flying past my left, and I looked back to see the Germans go up in an explosion.
After the unfortunate event (and the remainder of the Syndikat were cleared), we met up (after a looting spree) for our new orders from Fer.
