If we're lucky, OA will be improved in that regard.
Oh, wait. We're talking about BIS here! Ignore the previous line.

Re: Teamspeak
There is another advantage in not relying completely on the game's VON, especially if the TSx server is on separate hardware, which is that our comms can survive a major server crash. As good as A1 VON was, it never matched TS2 for me - potentially because I was far away from the server. For now, and unless anyone has any strenuous objections, I'm going to work on the basis that we'll launch with TS2, but keep a close eye on A2TS3 and A2:OA's built-in VON capabilities as well.
Re: Teamspeak
Oh right, I had forgotten that. VON quality is pretty bad if you have a latency above about 50-60ms, thanks for reminding me Fer!
The server-crash thing is very important too, while I also like the feel of having a TS channel that is persistent - it means people can chat about the game after the game is over, if they wish.

Re: Teamspeak
If TS3 still has no channel commander, then it's out of the question, but as soon as it gets some kind of capability in that respect, I think we should switch to TS3.
I base my opinions only on hearsay and opium dreams. But I really like the TS3 sound quality, and it seems to be a lot more stable for me in terms of its bandwidth usage, which is odd because I think it actually uses MORE bandwidth.

So we can expect this feature in any case."i have to admit that current implemantation is quite half baked. we will make sure that one of the next client releases covers this in a matter that you are pleased."
Re: Teamspeak
That's really the crucial factor right now. As soon as TS3 supports channel commander, OR we can get similar functionality from the TS3/ArmA2 plugin (A2TS3 or whatever it's now called), we'll most likely switch.Lor wrote:If TS3 still has no channel commander, then it's out of the question, but as soon as it gets some kind of capability in that respect, I think we should switch to TS3.
