Misson: Altis Greens II
Role: AR

The objective was to secure two towns. We rolled the dice, flipped a coin and played spin-the-bottle before selecting which town to attack liberate first. In the end, I think it happened to be closest one to us - so that was convenient.

Once we moved out of the relative safety of our base, we were almost immediately assaulted by small arms fire. This was fairly easily overcome by our, two escort-like, light tanks.

Us lot, The Infantry, disembarked further along the road towards the objective and made our way up to an elevated position. Once on point, we took sporadic sniper fire from an unidentified foe. Eventually, he poked his head out over the crest of a hill and I was able to provide some bursts from my MG (officially, I killed him). Our marksmen was able to cover our six as we advanced.

Once on this elevate position, we had view over the objective and it wasn't long before we were told the sweet words all infantrymen love to hear: "Engage at will"
Identifying friend (civilian) from foe (probably Boberro) was no easy task, although, the civilians did try to help matters by running in all directions waving their hands in the air.
It was all going fairly pedestrian until a technical entered the area. A technical armed with a tank barrel duct taped to its chassis. I had no way to make sure I could take it out cleanly without it returning fire to my exposed comrades and so all I could really do is call it in and hope the light tanks would deal with it. Unfortunately, it absolutely blazed into town and took out a light tank (fer and bob?) and continued on through the center. Upon exiting the town on the other side, we laid waste to It and repurposed it as a cheese grater for the whole area to enjoy.

Our elevated position became not so advantageous at this point and so we descended into the town, clearing house to house. Once the town was clear, the order was given to return to base and fetch the Washington (ASL) a sandwich.

Job done.

Misson: Mast II
Role: A2 FTL
Oh dear. Ohhhh dear, oh dear. In fairness, I was half cut on cider and too much sun.
Let me explain: So, the mission involved defending a small base, however, I was completely thrown by these two markers "A1" and "A2" on the map. It didn't help matters that they were both positioned on tactically sound places.
In any case, when the mission started I said "right boys, on me! lets GO!". I got a good 100-200 meters towards my marker before I heard "Harry. Harry, Harry those aren't waypoint makers; they're just showing what side of the line each fireteam is on." Well, let me tell you. It would take a very insecure person to let something like that affect them. I was, of course, destroyed but tried to salvage the situation.
It was fine, we found our sandbags in which we would call home for the rest our, short, lives and scanned horizons. Reports came in of enemy infantry, although, it did take some time for the enemy to rear their ugly heads.
Armed with the MIGHTY FAL, I began picking off enemies with ease; Its a truly magnificent weapon. Boberro and Fer both started lightin' up the enemy with overlapping fire from their M60s.
It wasn't long until comrades started taking hits. A1 was under pressure and requested help. I intended to spare Kefriz but then we ourselves started get pressure. Bob succumbed to bullets then Kefriz. I got them both up, a medic was able to help and by this time A1 reported they were up on their feet.
It was around this time we lost our commander. RIP.
Contacts continued to come in and Fer reported mucho gringo but by the time we got to him he was already worm food.
The fighting slowly petered out and it was discussed that perhaps we would commence a sweep, searching for the rest of the enemy but this idea was short lived as the enemy, as far as I'm aware, gifted himself to A1 and they took him down.

Job done.

Misson: After The Disaster Part One
Role: AR
Humvees, aviator glasses and colorblindness - It doesn't get much better than this.
The objective was to destroy two(?) caches (Tigersharks private collection of unspeakables. Essentially, WMDs.)
Magmustn't....volunteered as leader of this ragtag bunch of manly men - we boarded the Humvees and moved out.
Disembarking maybe 500m out from the first objective we continued on foot using a newly developed tactical formation based on Football 343 formations.

Everything was going fairly splendidly until big Mag got slapped so hard he was disconnected and I was field promoted. In my, ever ongoing battle against indecision, I pushed us on towards objective but it was all way too hasty.
The charge was fitting to that of WW1 trench warfare and much of the infantry wasn't even with us as they probably had no idea what was going on. During the charge, I could see at least one person go down followed by myself. The enemy relieved me of duty by placing a 7.62 round in my brain. Arma felt I wasn't punished enough and reduced my frame rate down to 1fps. At the risk of crashing the server/ causing issues I decided it best to disconnect :(

In hindsight I should have taken my time. it was difficult as we were exposed and under fire from a forest just beyond and to the left of the cache so I had 2 options 1. Retreat and flank around, using the dense forest next to us as solid cover or 2. Advance swiftly and take the cache area with its oh so lovely hard cover and elevated positions. Hold and secure Retreating never appeals to me. I like to go forward or around. But, in this case I think retreating then flanking was the right option if not to be in a more advantageous position to better aid in deciding what to do next.

Did anyone record an Infantry perspective in Altis Greens II?
Anyway, here's my Wiesel (AT) perspective along with a little bit of Gopniks II (40m, CYKA BLYAT after 38:07): https://youtu.be/gjmQoT5fKC0, in which I (with Bodge as my driver) fail at making correct contact reports (and proper radio protocol in general), I discover that unstabilised weapon systems really are a pain, I forget that Technical gunners fall off their technicals rather than slump over like their driver cousins when killed, and prove that reversing at high speed is the greater part of valour (or something like that).

Second mission of the day was Mast I; a new Fer mission, in which the Tanoan Armed Forces defend fixed positions against some USMC guys.
In this one, I was the AAR of Alpha 1. I honestly can't say much about this mission, because I spent most of the early part running between my assigned watch-spot and the Autorifle position to use my rangefinder to give contact details.

Then, after the incoming Americans just walked up out in the open towards our lines - and nothing happened at all on my assigned corner of the defences - actual combat started, but I ended up sitting there listening in on the radio while no Americans came my way until I just gave up and rejoined my team proper.
Then we got shot at quite a lot by a single AI, revived our downed, and literally fled before the might of AI bush-hax. That single AI was pretty much the last of the enemy force, however, and so the mission was ended when we gave up on waiting for any more to attack.

Third on the list was a solid run of the Kalelovil mission After the Disaster I, in which I got shot a lot and Bodge had to keep fixing me up.
This one was lead by Magmust, and I was a Rifleman with a LAW. This one was about strolling through compounds and detonating weapon's caches, and (since I'd nicked an Explosive Charge) I got to set off the first one. It was nice.
Then since our SL had long been lost to the vagaries of internet (and his replacement Palm had been terminated), Fer took over and organized us in a line rolling through the edge of the forest at walking pace.

As somebody said in the middle of it, It wasn't our worst line ever.

Then we reached the second cache compound, I was called on to fire off my LAW at a building (which I did), then I ran into the sights of a UAZ-mounted DShKM. I did not survive.

Shortly after, Kefirz set a charge on the second cache, everyone drove off, and someone in a Lada drove directly into a barricade at full speed. I was disappointed that he (and his passenger) lived.

Finally, we played Gopniks II, the much anticipated sequel to the world-acclaimed Gopniks I!
Unfortunately, like a lot of sequels, the first one had already happened and part of the original Gopniks' massive appeal was the unexpected awesome of the first playthroughs - something that just wasn't possible in a second mission.

I didn't actually live very long in this, admittedly, but I got a great view of people going through dear Ludmilla's house, getting shot by cops, cops being AI, and then Harry just took point and went on a killing spree.

One note about the mission, I was deeply disappointed the cars were locked (since the travel-part had been cut (meaning we couldn't listen to great music)) and we couldn't zerg into the police firing line that way.
