Vanilla+: A Festive Special

Post by Pr3sario » Sat Nov 30, 2013 11:03 pm

A Festive Special - 20th December 2013 8pm GMT

I hear the party has completed the work on the time traveling tractor?
What you have heard is the truth Comrade. However the bad news is we only have enough diesel for one time jump.

Lets use this power to go back and prevent Team Speak updates...
Hold your horses Comrade, the party has listened to feedback in the V+ Open Discussion and we have decided to use the diesel we have to travel back to 1944 and sacrifice men in the cold dark horror that is i44.

When will the mass sacrifice happen?
This special V+ event will be taking place on the evening of Friday 20th December 2013 @ 8pm GMT (usual V+ time).

Do I need to wear a festive jumper to take part?
A festive jumper is not required but will go a long way in showing your commitment to the party.

Do I need any special mods in order to play?
To keep it simple for everyone so we are only going to be using the i44 Invasion 1944 Mod and Carraigdubh Terrain.

So does that mean we won't be using ACRE?
At this point there are no plans to use ACRE during this one off event. We will use the traditional channels in FA Team Speak for communication.

I will need help to install all this, where can I find it?
We will be adding a tutorial to this post as soon as we decide the on modset we are using and finalise the mission list. And you can always find us in the FA Skype chat (use the keyword "V+" somewhere in your message).

:clint:

EDIT: Courtesy of Wolfenswan we have a F2 i44 fork for mission making. Get it here: https://github.com/Wolfenswan/F2-I44/ar ... opment.zip

I know, but ACRE breaks for people a lot, and as it's a one time thing we don't want people to be excluded as there won't be a second chance.

Well, better something then nothing. Would be nice to see a 2 squads sitting in ditches with MG42s and Panzerfausts, seeing shermans charging towards us and just having mortars fly over our heads.

Edit:

Armaholic and Moddb mirrors for i44 for those that don't use PW6.

What the Folk? Carraigdubh? Leitrim? Why in the seven hells would anyone want to visit there?

On inspection it looks fantastically accurate. One of the most forsaken places on the planet.

There is a mission like that Draakon, so you just have to ask Presario nice enough and maybe he will look into it.

We get to go back in time and invade Ireland!

It took waffly ages to get people saying carraigdubh properly last time we played it!

Does Waffly go by the Munster, Connacht or Donegal pronunciation? And can he teach me?

Also, will there be an Indy Irish force with historically accurate ridiculous-anti-British-sentiment-inspired German helmets? Yep, we were that petty.

I will finally be able to fulfill my dream of knowing what it would be like if FA was a unit in WW2!

Shame about no ACRE though; it would be cool in this situation as probably no one but Squad Leaders would have radios, allowing for lots of direct communication of orders and even more fireteams not doing what they're supposed to.
